Recommend a laptop please...
Submitted by e.ferg (Rank: #10) about 1 month agoI want to start looking into getting a laptop... It doesn't need to be amazing because I don't do anything intense for work but it should be able to run several different things at once for web browsing/research/writing purposes...
What I really want is something light and compact, but durable because I'm a bit of a klutz and I have a youngster who is constantly fiddling with my things as well...
I was drawn towards the iPad when I first saw it but I don't actually know if a screen that sits flat would be comfortable to hunch over (probably not) and the keyboard attachment for the ipad would probably make it less easy to move around with...
Any recommendations?

I'd get a 15 inches laptop from apple if I were you. If you go for the basic, cheapest and smallest in the range which will have all the things that you need already installed, you'll pay a little bit more than for any other machine but you'll be in peace with: no or very little software installation, no fuss with upgrades (all online), no add ons to buy, no maintenance, no virus, very easy to use, hardware that just works with considerably less crashes (if any) and a great deal of hassle out of the way. This is robust, and the machine just works. Plus it's a beautiful object that you'll love but the main point is that it works for you, not the opposite, after all that's what computers were designed for. I'd also opt for the 3 year warranty which may seem like a considerable investment but you can get any repair done in no time and experience a great customer service if anything go sour, and you ought to get some business expenses anyway. All in all it might even save you some money on the long run, and it will definitely save you some working time.
